TOPICS: Simultaneous Round Tables / Workshops

(I) Road to Geneva 2027 (Closed session, invitation only)
Session Led By: Ambassador Thomas Schneider (Swiss OFCOM), Ayisha Piotti (ETHZ CLE, RegHorizon)

As one of the opening moments on the Road to Geneva 2027, this high-level roundtable will bring together leading stakeholders to help shape the ambition and direction of the next Global AI Summit, scheduled for 21–22 June 2027 in Geneva.

The discussion will build on the achievements and lessons of previous Summits, identify the gaps that remain, and explore the concrete outcomes Geneva 2027 should seek to deliver. Participants will also contribute to defining the Summit's official working groups and consider opportunities for active involvement in the process.

A focused dialogue designed to turn experience into priorities, partnerships and action.

(II) Drafting a Shared Standard of Evidence & Accountability for AI Agents
Session Led By: Dominick Romano (Drainpipe io), Michael Schorpp (Boehringer Ingelheim)

As AI agents move from pilots into real-world deployment, trust can no longer be assumed, it must be demonstrated.

This working session will explore what credible evidence and accountability should look like for increasingly autonomous systems. Participants will examine where responsibility sits when agents act, what organisations should be able to prove about the boundaries and safeguards governing those systems, and what lessons can be drawn from other high-consequence domains.

The goal: to help shape a shared, practical standard for trustworthy AI agents that supports both responsible adoption and scale.

(III) Expanding the Governance Toolbox for Managing AI and Tech Development
Session Led By: Daniel Pap (Council of Europe), Tatiana Monney (Council of Europe)

Regulation and development of AI are often pitched against each other. A carefully designed governance space, however, is a pre-condition for successful AI development in a competitive environment that generates benefits for all.

The roundtable will discuss what kind of new or existing governance tools need to be introduced or scaled up to generate a positive feedback loop. Examples include:

1. Data markets for AI development (see also recent podcast by Daron Acemoglu)
2. Strengthening state capacity through sovereign wealth funds
3. Addressing algorithmic collusion through market-wide stress tests
4. Mission-oriented tech development through public procurement
5. Improving work-force readiness and AI literacy

Come ready to challenge conventional approaches and help identify the governance tools that can make AI development both more competitive and more broadly beneficial.

(IV) Exploring Innovative Solutions to Combat Online Hate Speech and Gender-Based Violence
Session Led By: Ekkehard Ernst (ILO), Elliott Ash (ETH Zurich CLE)

How can technology help strengthen democracy while safeguarding human rights?

This session will showcase innovative solutions emerging from the Council of Europe's Democracy Hackathon, where multidisciplinary teams developed practical approaches to tackling online hate speech, gender-based violence and democratic backsliding.

Winning teams and mentors will share how they are translating democratic principles into concrete, tech-enabled solutions — from privacy-preserving detection and coordinated behaviour analysis to improved institutional response and approaches beyond content moderation.
